steampunk in corridor
Did this a few weeks ago on location at an old miltary fort. Its actually a pillbox/bunker that is almost completely buried under sand at this time, but there remains an obscure path to both entrances, one of which can be seen behind me.
I had a couple of Canon 580 EXll strobes. One shooting through a small softbox to light subject and another off in the back shooting through a red gel to the wall in back of me.
A vivitar 285HV shooting from the back to light side of subject and hair. There are three rooms off the corridor one of which I placed the two lights shooting out from so as not to be in view of the scene.
It was good fun till the wild dogs decided to come strolling through. . .

I love this caricature of a steampunk man. The lighting effects are wonderful. I especially like the red behind the figure. Scary about the wild dogs!

Gary, Where do you find these amazing models? Tell me, are they difficult to work with? Do they act like divas? Do you have to provide them with food and drink during the shoot? How co-operative was this one? He looks a little full of himself - guaging by the cock of his head ... Did it require a lot of patience to work with him? Did he get fidgety while you are adjusting your settings?
Just interested in the relationship you have with this guy/subject/model ....

Wonderful results ~ I think you are brave setting up your photo shoot where you did. It looks a little risky ~ ha! But I guess that's what makes your photos so amazing ~ you take risks and try! Love it!

What a quinkydink! I was just reading about Steampunk today. You have surely captured the essence of the Steampunk spirit. They have an installation of Steampunk art at the Smithsonian I think it was. Great photo... and you seem to work so well with yourself.
Had to stop in and see what you're up to lately... and, as ever, I am so glad I did. Your work is just fascinating, Gary. And inspiring, even educational (if by educational, I mean lets one know how much more they still have to learn in a given field!!). ;) Not for the first time, I wish we were closer so I could tag along on a shoot here or there and come back with my head swirling a whole different set of photo knowledge around! But alas... NY is too far for a day trip.
And anyway, I'm not a big fan of wild dogs... especially the kind that live in cities and are completely undaunted by humans. ;)
