The "View from Within" is a series I have been working on since I had seriously started shooting in 2004. It is a collection of photographs which views the world from a psychologically dark and isolated perspective. For me, the sense of being hidden and unknown while being able to observe and look out into the world brings a certain feeling of solace and inner peace. Perhaps a reprieve from the daily struggle and hardships around us. . .
It is a series that continues to develop and evolve.

The stairs and the fishersman's shack with the rope are my favorites... I love photos like this. Love, love, j'adore.

Wow. Love the mood. Like 'Open book' and 'girl and tree'.
I am not sure they give me solace as you describe - they make me feel on edge, more alive perhaps ... Interesting! :)

"Boy" is one of my favorites because the sun shining through the cracks of the door is so powerful with your son looking in that direction.

I also love "Once upon a time" but my favorite has always been "Self Portrait". How in the heck did you do that?!

By the way I sent you a "One Lovely Blog Award". Go to my blog to claim you prize.

I'm not going to pick a favorite, because they're all good. I like what you're doing here with the black & white film. And the captions help bring understanding to each photograph.

Really cool. I loved the "once upon a time" photo. I can see multiple perspective lines in that pic. The work is absolutely stunning.

so moody. love this series!

btw, I have been using my new camera when at home ...I have to say, the shots aren't that much better than my old canon elph power shot but the wireless remote is proving to be my absolute favorite part about it. I still have some reading to do on it. There are a lot of options. :)

Hi Gary
These are beautiful ( a little eerie) I think a lot of creative people can relate to this imagery. Potent. Great title as well.
Good to meet you. xx

This is a wonderful series, Gary. You handled the light exceptionally. That and the subject matter make these outstanding.

Gary:
Perfect concept for a running series and I'm very happy to see some serious B&W work for a change. They are all excellent, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the topmost image. They remind me of one of my idols, Wynn Bullock, who liked to pose figures in similar environments to these. I intend talk about him on my blog soon.
Great work here!

Hi Gary. Loved your comments to my recent posts. Funny and helpful. I left my reply to your comments on my blog which turned out to be a post in itself.

I am excited about working on my novel again. Thanks.

Love it.
Great contrast.
Soulful content.
You can't beat those quiet places in black & white...

One more thing...Whoever taught you composition did a masterful job...It is so lacking in many works on the 'net.

Gorgeous work. I think this idea of "View from Within" is wonderfully intriguing. Curious, dark and beautiful.

Hello Gary

I love the doorway framed shots you have done, especially the plant moving in breaking down the separation between inside and outside.

Black and white conveys the dichotomy of moods very well..

Happy days
