It is those that seek unity and conformity that make the rebels and non- conformists so attractive, and vice versa. . .we are all in this together and our very co-exixtence compliments one another as in the case here of "the rebel".We are all important and part of the bigger picture. Together we are much greater than the sum of our parts. . .

I love how you saw the one board breaking free as 'the rebel.' And I see your point about rebels being an essential part of the whole. As a mother of a teenager, I know that its wise to give space for others to test the limits. We can't choose conventional wisdom unless we have the freedom to sometimes flaunt it. Thanks for this wonderful post.
Thanks for your comment. i was the father of a teenage girl and although it's very difficult for us as parents, it is wise as you say to allow them room sometimes to test their limits. Sometimes the only way to learn is the hard way.
She's still a bit rebelious, but i'm actually glad for it.
Beautiful! I particularly love the last sentence: " together we are much greater than the sum of our parts..".
Love the photo and your essay too. Wonderful insight!
That is a wonderful sentiment to pair with a powerful photograph. It makes me think a an old barn I am trying to save from destruction im my town.
Excellent descriptive work...nice treatment and a piece with a lot of visual impact! After reaising 5 children through their rebellious stage (which I must say they came by honestly) I too am glad that they don't tolerate the intolerable or accept the "norm"!
