Thanks to Karens post at Brayton Homestead Interiors titled "Gentle Mystery" I was reminded of the incredible collection of Dolls that was on display at Space Farms in Sussex New Jersey. Space Farms is mainly an exotic animal farm but does have a museum as well that is full of antiques and various collections of interesting and nostalgic things from our past. Here are some of the photos I took of their huge collection of dolls. What intrigues me is the character in each of these, some beautiful and elegant and some mysterious and even scary. There was one that was displayed as though it had been murdered, very odd and I'm sure it was not set up that way intentionally, but perhaps overnight while the farm is closed strange things and mysteries begin . . .as in the last photo.

I used to have the same type of Japanese doll. I'm sure these dolls have plenty of spirit vibrations from their owners but you kind of wonder what some of the designers were thinking back then. Again, your story telling style makes this layout look like pictures from an old storybook. We can just fill in the blanks with the story line.
ooooooooooh!! these are so interesting! my grandma would want to take them all home.
i would love to see them photographed at night with spooky lighting. then again, maybe not! ;)
Gary, thank you so much for the mention of my blog!! I can see what you were saying those dolls are incredible, and your photos- always exceptional. All have such individual character!
Some of those dolls look spooky! I do love the (friendly looking) old porcelain dolls, though. They are always so fascinating.
